Cookies policy for the IRIS portal

To ensure that the IRIS portal operates efficiently and to enhance the user's experience, we place small data files called cookies on your device. You can decide whether or not to be tracked by these cookies. You can delete the cookies at any time.

About cookies

A cookie is a small piece of data that a website stores on the visitor’s computer or mobile device.
At the IRIS portal, we use cookies to enable the technical functioning of this website. In addition, if you consent to it, we use cookies to collect your browsing experience on our website. This enables us to collect anonymous statistics to help us improve our website and services.

Different types of cookies exist:

  • First-party cookies are set by the website you are visiting and only that website can read them. A website might use first-party cookies from an external service to analyse how people use their site.
  • Third-party cookies are set and stored by a different website in a manner that is outside the control of the site you are visiting.
  • Session cookies are temporarily saved in your web browser to enable a website to track your navigation, so you are not treated as a new user every time you go from page to page. They are deleted automatically when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies are saved on your computer for longer and not deleted automatically when you close your browser.

For more information on different types of cookies, see:  European Commission: cookies.

IRIS portal and its cookies

The IRIS portal utilises specific cookies crucial to its operation and enhancement of its user's experience. Disabling them may affect the performance and features available to you. Below is an overview of the cookies used in the IRIS portal.

Essential cookies at the IRIS portal

The IRIS portal uses a first-party persistent cookie - cookieConsent - to track the user's consent on the usage of the cookies. This cookie has an expiration date of 365 days from its creation, after which it is automatically deleted from the user's device.

Power Pages cookies

The IRIS portal is built on Power Pages, which utilises the cookies below. Except for Dynamics365PortalAnalytics - a first-party persistent cookie with a 90-day expiration date -, all the other Power Pages cookies are first-party session cookies, automatically deleted from the user's device when the web browser is closed.

  • __RequestVerificationToken protects against cross-site request forgery (CSRF).
  • .AspNet.ApplicationCookie identifies the user's sessions for the duration of a session.
  • adxPreviewUnpublishedEntities manages preview mode for administrators.
  • adx-notification stores alert messages for form actions.
  • ARRAffinity and ARRAffinitySameSite ensure proper load balancing across Azure services.
  • ASP.NET_SessionId maintains a logged-in user's session.
  • ContextLanguageCode remembers the user's selected language preference.
  • Dynamics365PortalAnalytics gathers anonymous usage statistics for the portal.
  • isDSTObserved and isDSTSupport manages daylight saving time adjustments.
  • timeZoneCode and timezoneoffset stores information related to the user's time zone.

Non-essential cookies at the IRIS portal

Azure Application Insights cookies

For web analytics and telemetry, the IRIS portal employs Azure Application Insights. This tool uses first-party cookies to collect data about the user's interactions with this website, crucial for compiling aggregated statistics about website usage, contributing to the user's experience enhancement on this website.

Azure Application Insights is designed with privacy in mind, ensuring that data collection complies with applicable laws and regulations. The data collected is anonymised, and no personally identifiable information is captured unless explicitly provided by the user.
For more information on how data collected by Azure Application Insights is used and protected, consult Microsoft Privacy Statement .

Azure Application Insights utilises the cookies below.

  • ai_session tracks a user's session, allowing us to understand interactions within a single visit. This session cookie is automatically deleted from the user's device when the web browser is closed or within approximately 40 minutes of its creation.
  • ai_user identifies unique visitors to the portal by assigning a unique identifier, helping us distinguish between new and returning users. This cookie has an expiration date of 365 days from its creation, after which it is automatically deleted from the user's device.

Consent to collecting your browsing experience

You have control over the use of cookies on the IRIS portal. Upon your first visit, you will be prompted to accept all cookies or only the essential ones. Your preferences can be changed at any time through the portal's cookies settings or your web browser's privacy settings.

  • If you accept essential cookies, only the cookieConsent and the Power Pages cookies are enabled (i.e. the non-essential cookies from the Azure Application Insights are disabled).
  • If you accept all cookies, you enable the Azure Application Insights cookies, in addition to the cookieConsent and the Power Pages cookies.
  • If you do not make a selection and continue to browse the website, only essential cookies are enabled by default. You may decide to withdraw or give your consent on all cookies at any time.

Choosing to accept only essential cookies does not affect your navigation experience on this website.

To see your current status and manage your consent, you can use the box below. In this box, 'opting in' means accepting all cookies, and 'opting out' means accepting only essential cookies:

Opt-out complete; your visits to this website will not be recorded by the Web Analytics tool. Note that if you clear your cookies, delete the opt-out cookie, or if you change computers or Web browsers, you will need to perform the opt-out procedure again.

You may choose not to have a unique web analytics cookie identification number assigned to your computer to avoid the aggregation and analysis of data collected on this website. To make that choice, please click below to receive an opt-out cookie.

'Do Not Track' option

'Do not track' is a web browser function that prevents websites from tracking visitors. If you have enabled the 'do not track' option in your web browser, the IRIS portal will not process your browsing experience. Several web browsers have the 'do not track' option:

  • Chrome
  • Edge
  • Firefox
  • Internet Explorer
  • Opera
  • Safari
